Thomas G. Moeller

Thomas G. Moeller, of Tulsa, OK, formerly of Freeport, passed away on June 25, 2025 in Tulsa, OK.

Tom was born in Freeport on July 18, 1944, the son of Raymond Johnson and Agnes Berger Moeller. He attended schools in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Iowa before graduating from Marquette University in 1967 with a B.A. in psychology. After two years in the U.S. Army stationed in West Berlin, Tom entered graduate school and received his Ph.D. in Child Behavior and Development in 1973 from the University of Iowa.

Tom married the former Providence Bravata of Cedarville on Dec. 28, 1968, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Freeport. She passed away on October 25, 2016.

Tom taught psychology for 35 years at the University of Mary Washington (UMW) in Fredericksburg, VA. He was also an active member of the Virginia Psychological Association. In 2001, he authored a book, Youth Aggression and Violence. In 2007 he was awarded the Grellet C. Simpson award from UMW for excellence in undergraduate teaching.

He was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Fredericksburg and served as the faculty advisor to the University of Mary Washington Catholic Campus Ministry.

In retirement, Tom enjoyed genealogical research, traveling, and studying European languages. He loved baseball and was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox. Above all, however, Tom loved having more time to spend with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He moved to Tulsa in 2021.

He was predeceased by his wife; his parents; a sister, Patricia; and two brothers, Raymond and William.

He is survived by two sons, Kurt (Michelle), of Argyle, TX., and Scott (Mary Kathryn), of Tulsa; four grandchildren (Alexander, Gregory, Nicholas, and Lucy); a brother, Dan (Gloria), of Freeport; and a sister, Mary Harweger (Fred), of Huntsville, AL.

Visitation 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Wednesday July 9, 2025 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Thursday July 10, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
