Vera L. Pruitt-Allyson, 91, of Freeport, Illinois passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Liberty Village in Freeport, IL. She was born June 30, 1934 in Prescott, Arkansas, the daughter of T. Hayes and Hattie Walker.

She attended school in Prescott, Arkansas.

Then located to Bruce, Mississippi, to live with her sisters, she then met and married Thomas Pruitt in 1953.

They then moved to Freeport, Illinois in 1954. To this union they were blessed with ten children.

Later she became Vera Allyson.

She later attended Highland Community College receiving her GED on June 9, 1976.

She worked 14 years at Micro Switch before her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and reading, with a good cup of hot tea.

She enjoyed her family and friends. Greeting all with a warm smile of kindness.

She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter Tamilla (Rev. Rickey) Stidman seven sons, Garland (Loretta) Pruitt, Eric (Prose) Vonzel, Kerry Pruitt, Maurece Pruitt, Phelix (Felecia) Pruitt, Andre (Algina) Pruitt and Julius (Borey) Pruitt; and a host of nieces, nephews, and one cousin, Lester Livingston of Chicago, Illinois.

39 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

And a special niece Bobbie Sue Belin of Las Vegas, Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, 4 brothers, 2 daughters Devorie, Yasmin, 1 son Randall, and 2 grandsons Jermaine, Roy and 1 great-great-granddaughter Amariyah.
