Vera M. Johnson

Vera M. Johnson, 98, of Forreston, passed away, Saturday May 2, 2026, Provena St. Joseph Center. Vera was born on December 18, 1927, in Ogle County, the daughter of Jacob and Minnie (Harrenstein) Ludwig.

She married Leander LeFevre on September 23, 1947. Mr. LeFevre passed away on August 17, 1964. She then married Leo E. Johnson on October 7, 1972. Mr. Johnson passed away December 30, 2003.

Vera farmed for many years alongside her husband Leo. She was a member of Forreston Reformed Church. She was a religious lady, she enjoyed reading the Bible and church activities. She enjoyed helping her husband, Leo on the farm, especially driving the tractors.

Surviving is nephew, Alan Ranz; and great nephews and nieces, Michael (Nicole)Ranz, Theodore (Julie) Ranz, Steve (Cara) Hoffman, Becky (Aaron) Coon, and Julie (Travis) Howarth; and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death by her parents; two husbands; infant daughter at birth, two brothers, Marvin Ludwig, Alvin (Deloris) Ludwig, and two sisters, Velma (Bob) Sheaffer, and Mildred (Dale) Russman; nephew Galen Russell; and nieces, Donna Bennett and Judy Ranz.

Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Friday May 8, 2026, at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston. Rev. Lyle Greenfield will officiate. Visitation noon until the time of service at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be in Forreston Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory.
