Vicky Jean Busker
FREEPORT, IL – Vicky Jean Busker, 71, of Freeport, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on August 10, 2026.
Vicky was born on May 2, 1955, in Monroe, Wisconsin, to Don Bear and Shirley (Dirksen) Hunefeld.
On March 18, 1972, she married the love of her life, David P. Busker, in Freeport, Illinois. Together they built a loving family and shared more than 54 years of marriage.
Vicky worked throughout her career for Eagle Foods, Sullivan Foods, and Cottonburg Manufacturing. However, her true passion was serving children as a teacher's aide at Jones-Farrar School and later at Center School in the Freeport School District. She found great joy in helping students and making a positive difference in their lives. Vicky retired in 2019.
Vicky was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed baking, creating beautiful cross-stitch projects, and gathering every Monday night with her card club gals for an evening of cards, laughter, and friendship. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother, Shirley Hunefeld; her devoted husband, David Busker; her children, Christopher (Melissa) Busker, Brandon (Meghan) Busker, Dane (Brittany) Busker, and Austyn Busker; and her cherished grandchildren, Braxton, Vander, Declan, Collin, Willa, and Alannah.
She is also survived by her cousin, James (Terri) Dirksen; her siblings, Kip Bear, Madonna (Dan) Miller, Michelle (Greg) Johnson, and Donnie (Shannon) Bear; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A visitation will be held on August 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Bethany United Church of Christ in Freeport, Illinois. A memorial service and celebration of life luncheon will immediately follow visitation.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Vicky's memory.
Vicky's kindness, dedication to her family, and love for the children she served will be remembered by all who knew her.
