Walter W. Paul

Walter W. Paul, 86, of Forreston, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 12, 2025. He was born on April 19, 1939, in Freeport, IL to Clarence E. and Ruth T. (Fosha) Paul.

Walter was a hardworking and honest man who had a strong Christian faith. A 1957 graduate of Forreston High School, he started working at the Ford Garage in Forreston, where he became shop foreman. He started farming on the family Centennial Farm in 1960 and continued until the time of his passing. He often said, “You’ll never work a day in your life if you love what you’re doing.” He had a passion for riding his Harley that developed in his teens. He was proud to maintain a CDL and enjoyed driving his Peterbilt hauling his grain. He also loved many loyal and devoted German Shepherds over the course of his life.

Walter is survived by his children, Dwayne (Elizabeth) Paul, and Linette (Curt) DeHaven of Forreston, Karen (Douglas) Cullor of Byron, Wendie (Michael) Huber of Dixon, Douglas Paul of Freeport; grandchildren Candice Berg, Erich Huber, Christina Carter, Matthew Paul, Nicholaus Huber, Rebecca Hartman, Garrett Paul, Sarah Paul, Katherine Eytalis, Robert DeHaven, John DeHaven, Dalton Paul; 14 great grandchildren and former spouse, Sally Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston, IL on Friday, May 16th from 5:00 pm. until 7:00 pm. with the funeral on Saturday, May 17th at 11:00 am. Pastor Scott Porter of Abiding Word Church will preside. Burial will be at Cranes Grove Cemetery near Baileyville, IL. A luncheon will follow at West Branch Church of the Brethren, 4014 N. West Branch Road, Polo, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Forreston FPD Ambulance Service and Friends Forever Humane Society in Freeport, IL.
