William “Jeff” Robertson obituary

William Jeffrey Robertson, of Freeport, passed way peacefully on December 18, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Jeff or Willie as he was known was born on October 9th, 1953 to Donald and Ruth (Gillespie) Robertson Sr. He married the love of his life, Patty (Moore), on October 21,1978 at Embury United Methodist Church.

Jeff will be remembered in the community as a great auto mechanic who loved to help people. He was also an Automotive Instructor at Highland Community College where he was known as “Doc” to many students before he retired. He was a loving and kind husband, great father, and loved his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Patty of Freeport; his children, Alicia Thomas (Brandon) of Virginia Beach, Va; Shawn (Amber Cropper) of Freeport; Kari Penticoff (Todd) of Lake Summerset; grandchildren include, Brinklei and Bekett Thomas of Virginia Beach; Madison and Mason Penticoff of Lake Summerset; Tyler and Logan Penticoff; Hunter and Wyett Thyberg and one great- grandson, Raiden; sister, Cheryl (Wayne) Schofield; brothers, Donald Jr. (Kelly) and Terry (Ann) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Proceeding him in death was his mother and father; father and mother-in-law, Roy and Marion Moore Jr; brother-in-law, Richard Moore; sister-in-law, Margaret Ovist; daughter-in-law, Christi Robertson; nephew, Gregory Schofield; niece Carolyn Schofield.

The family would like to say a special thank you to FHN Cancer Center, FHN Supportive Care, FHN Hospice, Dr. Pedersen, Deb Tillis, Jeff and Amy Davis for all of their love and support.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 23rd from 3:00-7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 North Walnut Avenue, Freeport, 61032.

Cremation rights have been accorded following the visitation.

There will be a celebration of life at the Eagles Club Saturday, December 27th from noon till 4:00.

In lieu of flowers a Memorial has been established for FHN Hospice and Alzheimer’s Association.
