Gregory Lee Taylor Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gregory Lee Taylor Sr. was born December 19, 1947 to Thaddeus Sr. and Margaret (Shivers) Taylor, in Freeport, Il. Gregory departed this earthly life on July 2, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. Gregory married Valerie Lipscomb, in Lake City, Minnesota. Gregory served in the Vietnam War while enlisted in the Army. He worked at Structo in Freeport and later at Heat & Glow in Lake City, Minnesota, until her retired. Gregory was a Master Mason, loved to be around his family, especially his buddy/nephew Treycen. Gregory also enjoyed drinking coffee, watching Family Feud, fishing, cooking calling family and checking up on them and a good ole Ball of Cream. Gregory leaves to cherish his memory, Sons; Terry (Danielle) Collins of Rockford, IL, Terence (Lezzette) Green and Cecil Brown of Freeport, Il, Gregory Taylor Jr. of Dallas Texas., Brian Woodson, Naveen Rasheed of Minnesota, Kareem Lipscomb and Ahmed Lipscomb of Florida; Daughters: Karen Lipscomb Annetta Brown of Freeport, Sharon (Tim) Davis of Minnesota, Angela (Dejuan) Jones of Rockford, Laura (Franz) of Maryland and Nefertit (Ricardo) Socastro of Florida; Brothers: Thaddeus (Debra) Taylor of Champaign, IL, Stephen (Denae) Taylor, Cecil (Christie) Taylor both of Freeport, and Kevin (Noreen) Taylor of Virginia; Sister Carla (Carl) Green of Freeport, IL; 40 Grandchildren; 18 Great-Grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, Thaddeus Sr. and Margaret (Shiver) Taylor; His wife, Valerie Taylor; two sisters, Marsha Marshall and LaDonne Hoelyfield; one child, Marcia Bruce; and one brother-in-law, Robert Marshall. Funeral services will at 1:30 P.M. Saturday July 9, 2022 at Faith for Miracle Deliverance (3247 S. Baileyville Rd.) with Pastor Timothy Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. until the time of service at the church.
