Royce Edward Brumfield Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Royce Edward Brumfield transitioned to his Eternal Home on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born on July 2, 1950 in Freeport, IL, to Lloyd J. Sr. and Ernestine L. (McDonald) Brumfield. He attended Freeport High School where he was known as an outstanding athlete and vocalist. He was also a classically trained violinist. Royce enlisted in the US Navy where he was a seaman and was shipboard during the Vietnam War era. He was a master craftsman excelling in interior design as well as floor covering. His innate ability to marry both took him to various locations across the country as his gifting was greatly in demand. His love of color and design also followed him in his manner of dress as he was the epitome of a “gentlemen” in his personal style. Royce was also known wherever he was as a loving and generous person with a soft spot for youth - especially his nieces and nephews. He was often found working within the community and the church to help the under resourced, never forgetting his roots. A deacon-in-training at Second Baptist Church, he also sang in the choir. Royce leaves many loving memories and legacy with his siblings; Lloyd Jr, (Martha), of Sacramento, CA, Yvonne (Booker) Dismuke, of Rockford, IL, William, of Naperville, IL, Ronald (Marquilla), of Fitchburg, WI, and Bonita (Daniel) Schrader, of Freeport, IL; beloved nieces and nephews: Robin, Lloyd III, Rayshawn, LaQuenda Adara, Jamaal, Camille, Martrice, Shakeia, Andrea, Jacole, Japriya, Anneliese, Evan, Aria, and Erin and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his parents, infant sister Marva, and ex-wife Master Sargent Peggy Brumfield. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022. at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, 579 E. Madison St., Freeport IL, 61032. at 11:00 a.m. Cremation rites have been accorded with internment following at Freeport City Cemetery.
